You may not think you know William Galison's music, but you do. He's the guy
who plays the harmonica on the themes of "Sesame Street", "The
Untouchables", "Bagdad Cafe" and hundreds of other movie scores, and
albums and
commercials.
The world's most celebrated harmonica master, Toots Theilemans, has called
William "The Most Original and Individual of the New Generation of Harmonica
Players" William is indeed one of the few masters of the jazz harmonica, but
his career as a studio musician has allowed him to explore and embrace every
musical idiom, from rhythm and blues to classical concertos. That's why he has
recorded and/ or performed with stars as varied as Sting, Barbra Streisand,
Carly Simon, Chaka Khan, Astrud Giberto, Ruth Brown and Peggy Lee.
William has released three exceptional albums under his own name (on Verve,
PolyGram and Aosis records) and has recorded as co- leader with other major
talents from Brazil to Australia. He's also delighted audiences at Jazz
festivals and clubs around the world.
To top it off, William plays impressive jazz guitar and is a brilliant
singer/ songwriter and a gifted arranger. On "Got You on My Mind", William
gets a chance to shine his whole rainbow. All the harmonica, guitar and dobro solo's
on the album are William's as well as the vocals accompanying Madeleine .
And of course he sings lead on his original blues- story "Shoulda Known" (which
also features a cameo by the magnificent CARLY SIMON). He also composed one
instrumental on the album and co-wrote one song with Ms. Peyroux.
"Got You on My Mind" is William's debut as a record producer, and he is
deeply proud of his collaboration with one of his favorite singers and favorite
people, Madeleine Peyroux.
